This past Thursday the sun was rising and shining brightly through our kitchen window and the smell of strawberry banana orange muffins was filling the air. It was probably only about 6:30 a.m. but it was hot and humid and suddenly I became overwhelmed with my memories of being overseas for 5 months. I have no idea what triggered it but I am grateful for the Lord’s reminder of what He taught me.
In January of 2009, rather than returning back to Pittsburgh for a semester of school, I traveled to White River, South Africa for a Discipleship Training School through Youth With A Mission. I spent three months in classes learning about God, the Bible, discipleship, and understanding more of God’s role in my life. The final two months of the program were spent doing outreach in Mozambique and Uganda with a focus on ministering to orphans and widows. It was a completely life-changing experience.
Next Monday I’ll share about a few of the people I met and how their story impacted me, but this week I just wanted to share a video. It is from www.mochaclub.org. It has been around for about 5 years so some of you may have already seen it but it is an awesome reminder for me to re-evaluate what is my source of joy.
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:9-11
