Have you ever wanted to be able to
just fix things for someone you love? People say men tend to want to fix problems
instead of just listening but I am learning I’m the same way. I’ve been
learning that I cannot be anyone’s savior (which is difficult for someone like
me who likes to be in control). When people we love are hurting we want to
help, to make it all better, and to take away the pain. But sometimes God has
something better in store. He has something more rewarding, which may not be fun
in the present, but will produce eternal benefits. I’m reminded of what Paul
wrote to the church in Corinth:
“For our light
and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs
them all.So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but
on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is
eternal.” 2 Cor. 4:17-18
Sometimes it’s hard to think of
our troubles as “light and momentary” but compared to what God is doing for His
eternal purpose it’s actually not so bad. I can surrender control because I
know Jesus is in control. And when it comes down to it, He is the only One who
can really help our loved ones. Having an eternal perspective helps so much
with this. Open your Bible and check out these verses today for some
encouragement! They are also great verses to pray through for others.
