Baby Mama Part 2

34
Say hello to baby Benaiah Lamb!  Today Steph shares about her first 30 days of motherhood! :)

1. What are your top 2 favorite things about being a mom?

It has only been 1 month but Benaiah has changed so much already. I love seeing him develop and grow.
Also it is so fun to hold him while he snuggles on my chest. He makes the cutest noises and even laughs while sleeping.

2. What has been a motherhood surprise?

It might sound obvious but I was surprised at how much work it is! He has so many needs and they aren't just 9-5 but around the clock. Saying that motherhood is a full time job is an understatement! When you're single you want to get engaged and then you just want to be married. Once you're married you want to have kids. We're always looking for the next thing in life. When I was pregnant I just wanted to have my baby and now that  he's here I think how easy life was when I was just pregnant. Or I think once he is 6 weeks old life will be easier (that's what everyone tells me anyway). I'm sure when he's older I will miss how small he is now. It's surprising how hard it is to just live in the present.

3. What has been difficult about being a momma?

Lately when anyone asks me for prayer requests the first word out of my mouth is "sleep." Since my baby needs to eat every few hours and wakes up in between feedings too it means I get an hour of sleep, then maybe 2 in a row, and later 1 more hour until the sun finally comes up and someone else is able to watch him while I take a nap. I'm thankful for every bit of sleep I do get though.

4. With the busyness of caring for a baby how have you still been able to stay connected with The Lord?

My time with God may have to look different for this season but it doesn't mean my relationship with God can't be as strong. I find myself depending on God in new ways (for energy, patience, and of course wisdom to be a parent). I'm praying throughout the day because I can't get by without prayer. Being a mom is a joy but it is also one of the hardest things I've ever done. I need Jesus each and every day so of course that keeps me connected with God. I also stay connected through His Word - usually reading it on my phone while Benaiah is nursing in the morning. Sometimes I even listen to an audio Bible if I need to keep my eyes on the little one!

5. How can we be praying for you, Zach, and baby B? :)

Thank you. Other than sleep for all 3 of us you can pray for all of our changes coming up. Next weekend we are moving to Larchmont! Please pray that Zach and I will put God first and that our son will grow up to love Jesus with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength.
