Sometimes I think the hardest part of a retreat is coming home. Hopefully God met with you in incredibly personal and life-altering ways this weekend through the worship, the new friendships, and of course Matt’s great talks! [Which should be on the website soon!] But I want to remind you and myself that God is just as active in our lives on this Monday afternoon as He was around the bonfire Saturday night. Let’s not forget the things God put on our hearts then as our schedules get busier and our minds more scattered this week. Let’s take some time today to remember what truths He wants us to believe and the steps of faith He called us to take in response to believing these truths.
God really spoke to my heart through Meg’s talk about contentment at women’s time. My circumstances do not have to dictate my attitude/day/life. Here’s a quote that reiterates this truth for me:
“The circumstances of your life may be difficult, troublesome, and confusing. Even so, there is a circumstance that supersedes all the complexities of your life. It is the simple truth that the one great, permanent circumstance in which you live is that you have been allowed to walk in newness of life as you are united to Christ by faith through grace… All of us need to allow the Spirit to do his “inward work” and marvel as the Lord cultivates sweet, inward contentment in our heart as we learn to trust him.”
